Doctor of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, UBC
UBC offers a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree through the Faculty of Medicine.
• Applicants must complete a minimum of 90 university-transferable credits to be considered for admission. No preference is given to any particular degree background; a variety of pre-medical degree programs is considered desirable. Students should select courses that conform to the requirements of a degree of their choice.
• Candidates for admission must be Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents. BC applicants require at least a 75% overall academic average and out-of-province applicants require at least an 85% overall academic average.
• Applicants should demonstrate an ability to handle the rigorous, full-time curriculum of medical school, and are asked to provide more information about any part-time terms on the application.
• A full year of English (minimum of 6 credits with at least 3 of those credits in literature) is the only prerequisite coursework required for entry into the Doctor of Medicine program. However, courses in biology, general/inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry and biochemistry are strongly recommended. Please see below and/or UBC's MD
Admissions page for more information.
• All applicants must take the Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT). Test results are valid for five years. Applicants must achieve a minimum score of 124 in each of the four sections on a single exam.
