U- Pass BC Program

The U-Pass BC program is offered to students under agreements in place between TransLink, participating colleges/universities and their associated student societies. Students pay for this pass through mandatory student fees.

SUMMER 2020

  • Post-secondary institutions and student associations have worked with TransLink to temporarily suspend the U-Pass BC program as of May 1, 2020.
  • The U-Pass BC program is offered to students under agreements in place between TransLink, participating colleges/universities and their associated student societies. Students pay for this pass through mandatory student fees.
  • In agreement with TransLink and student associations, post-secondary institutions will be issuing refunds of the mandatory U-Pass BC fees for April 2020 to students who did not need to use their U-Pass BC – for simplicity, refunds will be issued to those students who did not use their pass for more than $41 in stored value travel.
  • In the coming weeks, Langara College will automatically process credits of $41 to each eligible student account.
  • Domestic students who do not have a balance owing will be mailed a refund cheque to the address on file. Students should confirm their address is up to date, through the Student Information System. Please allow 6–8 weeks after the credit is applied to your account for delivery from Canada Post.
  • International students who do not have a balance owing will have the credit left on their account to be applied to a future semester.

FALL 2020

  • In the absence of any official announcements regarding an extension to the U-Pass suspension, Langara College will be charging the standard $170 U-Pass fee to eligible students upon registration for the fall semester.
  • Generally, students are eligible for the U-Pass Program if they are enrolled in at least 3 credits of on-campus or mixed-mode classes. See the full eligibility details for more information.
  • Standard opt-out procedures apply; the deadline to request an exemption is September 15, 2020.
  • If the U-Pass suspension is extended into the fall semester, Langara will reverse the U-Pass charge on students accounts and issue refunds where applicable.
  • More information will be shared as it becomes available. If you have any questions, please direct them to upass_admin@langara.ca.
