The Professional Development Program (PDP)  is a full-time, 16-month, post-degree teacher education program offered by SFU's Faculty of Education.  It is for anyone who wants to achieve their BC teaching certificate and teach grades K - 12. Applicants must have completed a Bachelor's degree in order to apply. If admitted you may have the option of completing a Bachelor of Education as a second degree during the program (without extra time or cost).

To be admitted into the Professional Development Program (Secondary Education) students require:

  1. A Bachelor's degree (minimum 120 credit) before starting the PDP. 

  2. A GPA of 2.5+ on the last 60 credits (approximately) of undergraduate coursework.

  3. Experience (volunteer or paid) working with children or youth at the age level they wish to teach.

  4. 2 English or French courses (minimum 6 units with 3 units of literature)
  5. 1 major or 2 minors in teachable subjects
  6. SFU literacy requirement

  7. SFU quantitative requirement
