Canada received some very sad news this week; we lost Gord Downie, lead singer of the Tragically Hip.
When I reflect on my life and my love of recreation, the Tragically Hip was always playing in the background; their music was the playlist of my life.
Not only was Gord an amazing singer songwriter his values paralleled with those of community development and community recreation. He is a leader, and an exemplary Canadian.
If you know of Gord’s contributions to our country and listen to his music- you surely love him; if you are not familiar, I recommend you do some research and download an album or two for your next run, bike, walk or however you enjoy recreating.
May his music play on in our hearts and ears, and his legacy inspire us to stand up for what we believe in, and help us to build strong communities.
