Our courses offer interdisciplinary teaching and approaches, applied learning opportunities, and projects designed to develop research, communication, and critical thinking skills that are useful for any field of study.

Courses are typically offered in the Fall and Spring semesters.

Currently Featured Courses


CORE

CLST 1110 and HIST 2210 are usually offered yearly in the Fall semester. 
CLST 1120 and HIST 2211 are usually offered yearly in the Spring semester. 

CLST 1110 and CLST 1120 offer introductions to the study of ancient Greece and Rome from a variety of perspectives.  They take a thematic approach and emphasize cultural aspects of ancient Greek society in general.  HIST 2210 and HIST 2211 are chronologically-focused surveys of political, cultural, and military history.

LATIN

LATN 1115 is usually offered yearly in the Fall semester. 
LATN 1101 is usually offered yearly in the Spring Semester. 

Learning Latin provides a useful foundation for studying all Romance languages, a better understanding of English grammar and etymologies, and structure for developing skills in memorization and time management.  LATN 1101 is of particular use to students interested in pursuing further study in any area with specialized terminology based on Greek and Latin, especially medical and legal fields.  Students may also find it useful for building vocabulary and preparing for tests such as the GRE.

LECTURE SERIES

The lecture series is offered in both the Fall (Greek topics) and Spring (Roman topics) semesters.

SPECIAL TOPICS

One special topics course is offered every year, usually in the Spring semester.  On current rotation are CLST 1102, CLST 1125, and CLST 2230.
