Career Opportunities
Through this program, students have the opportunity to acquire a sound knowledge of the history, culture, and languages of Greece and Rome. The emphasis is on giving students an idea of the richness and variety of the past, and of the people involved, men and women, slaves and free. In a broader sense, the program is designed to give students an understanding of and sensitivity to different times and different places. In addition, the program is designed to enhance student skills in areas such as research, writing, and critical thinking.
The Classical Studies program provides students with a broad background and basic knowledge that can be applied to a variety of different disciplines as the students work towards their degree. Students may choose to continue in Classical Studies, or they may use their understanding to enhance their studies in English, history, art history, archaeology, philosophy, or other languages.
A specialization in Classical Studies can lead to a career in a variety of fields including:
