Areas of Interest
Sara’s teaching area of interests are sport sociology and sport psychology, with a focus on how we can all become more capable in critically reflecting and acting in our sport and physical activity worlds. Her research areas of interest include:
- Sport coaches’ learning, development, and reflection
- Psychosocial development in sport
- Advancing more equitable, inclusive, and safer sport contexts
- Narrative and creative research methods and dissemination
- Sara continues to be an active researcher at the University of British Columbia while completing a SSHRC-funded Postdoctoral Fellowship, collaborating with women coaches to share their stories of (in)equity and belonging in high-performance sport
- Sara aims to work with community members who experience sport and physical activity on the ground and is grateful for many collaborations built with local, provincial, and national organizations, such as the Coaching Association of Canada, Physical Education and Health Canada, and BGC Canada
- As a graduate student, Sara was awarded several accolades, including a SSHRC Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship (2020-2023) and the Franklin Henry Young Scientist Award within the sport psychology division (2024) She continues to engage in research on competitive youth sport contexts, coach reflection and learning, and creative qualitative methods.

Sport / Activity Background / Hobbies
- While not working, you can find Sara hiking, cycling, and running, often with her dog Nora.
