GEOG 1111: Introduction to Physical Geography: Planet Earth

Have you ever wondered why the weather and landscape where you live is different to other places in the world?  If so, GEOG 1111 will help you to understand why that is.  In this introductory course, you’ll learn about weather, climate, and climate change, as well as volcanoes, earthquakes, rivers and coasts.  You'll also take a thoughtful look at the interactions between humans and the biophysical environment, and explore how human activities are connected to wildfires, drought, and sea level rise. Using classroom and fieldwork, you will utilize a range of geographic techniques, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to learn more about our amazing and unique Planet Earth.

There are no prerequisites, and GEOG 1111 carries lab science credit.
