General Information

The ARC Fund supports eligible applications to initiate or help sustain faculty- and instructor-led research or scholarly activity projects, by providing grants of up to $3,500.

While all project proposals will be considered, priority will be given to projects that meet the criteria as outlined in the ARC Fund Adjudication Form and Rubric

How to Apply

  • Before submitting an application, please ensure that you have notified your academic dean or departmental supervisor of your intention to apply, and have provided an overview of your proposed project to them.
  • Upload your CV, detailing your research and related experience and qualifications. You can also upload other supporting documents, if any.
  • Complete all required fields before submitting the application form. As a multi-disciplinary committee adjudicates applications, please ensure that responses are free of discipline-specific jargon.
  • If you require further information, please contact
    • Yue-Ching Cheng for projects related to Social Science, Humanities, and Creative Arts; or
    • Nathan Jones for projects related to Science and Technology.

Restrictions

  • There are three calls for proposals every year, one in each semester. You may apply as often as you like. However, you can only hold one ARC Fund award at any given time. (You may hold ARC Fund and ARC Release awards simultaneously.) If you have received an award in a previous round of funding, you must bring the project to a close and submit a final report before applying for another award.
  • The maximum award is $3,500.
  • Upon completion of the funded activity, a copy of the project summary must be sent to your dean or supervisor.
  • You are required to submit a final report at the close of your project to the Associate Vice-President Academic, Julie Longo. All final reports will be uploaded to the Langara Institutional Repository (The LaIR).
  • You are expected to present the results of your research at Langara’s Applied Research Day, which is typically held annually around the third week of March.
  • The project must be in compliance with all relevant College research policies, including but not limited to approval from the Langara Research Ethics Board (LREB). Funds will be released when approval is confirmed. Please consult the LREB website or contact the LREB Chair if you have questions about this requirement.
  • Funds are not transferable and funding allocation is subject to review by the ARC Fund Adjudication Committee at any time.
  • Incomplete applications will not be considered.
