 Location and Guest Arrival

Convocation will be held at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre in downtown Vancouver.

Please have your guests arrive 1 hour prior to the start of the ceremony. Guests who arrive when the procession has started will be admitted but will be held in the lobby until the procession has finished.

Convocation Ceremony

No, they will be picked up prior to the convocation ceremony. For more information, please visit the Graduation page.

The ceremony lasts approximately 2.5 hours.

Each student participating in the convocation ceremony wears the Langara regalia for their program, unless they are wearing their own First Nations, Métis, or Inuit regalia. Langara regalia consists of a black gown and a black mortarboard cap with tassel in addition to a program specific hood, tippet, or stole. This is an academic tradition, as such no embellishments or variations to Langara regalia are permitted.

To prevent disruption of the ceremony, all graduates and their guests must remain in the theatre until the conclusion of the entire ceremony.

Professional photographers will capture your moment at the Convocation Ceremonies. Each graduate is photographed on stage and backstage during the ceremony. Previews of these photographs are sent to each student following the ceremony with information on how to order. The ceremony will also be livestreamed and a recording will be available online following the event.

Yes, guests may take photos and/or video of the ceremony. However, we request that guests remain in their seats and be mindful of other guests when taking photos.

Plans change. We understand. If you or any of your guests are unable to attend convocation, please contact convocation@langara.ca as soon as possible to cancel your tickets so we can make them available for the waitlisted guests.
