Are You Nuts? Of Course There's Such a Thing as Mental Illness
Every time there is a new edition of The American Psychiatric Association’s Diagnostic and Statistical Manual, there are questions raised about the ever-increasing numbers of conditions given labels under it. But the more fundamental question is whether the notion of mental illness is a coherent notion in the first place.
Dale Beyerstein teaches philosophy at Langara and is a past board member of the Society for Academic Freedom and Scholarship. He is also one of the hosts of “Think For Yourself,” a program about science and critical thinking on Co-op Radio.
