Vancouver BC - The Langara College School of Nursing received notification on June 17, 2015 that they have been awarded a full seven-year accreditation with the Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing (CASN). Seven years is the maximum period awarded by CASN and Langara is proud to receive this mark of excellence in nursing education.
"The faculty worked hard to achieve this mark of excellence and I am glad that they have been rewarded for their hard work on the curriculum and their work with students," says Janine Lennox, School of Nursing Chair. "These things, our strong curriculum and practice experiences, our dedication to the student experience through supports for the Canadian Nursing Students Association (CNSA), the Student Nurse Advocacy Program (SNAP) and the College of Registered Nurses of BC Student Representative Program were mentioned as strengths by the CASN site reviewers. In addition, the integration of resources which support our students' success in writing the licensing exam (NCLEX) was praised as a significant support for the students."
The benefits of accreditation go beyond reputation. Graduates from the Langara School of Nursing find they have a smoother path to graduate education.
