The Langara School of Nursing has two endowed awards, the Barney Hickey Nursing Student Award, and the Jessie Radonich-Scanlan Memorial Award. An endowed award means that the capital is preserved, so that the award can last indefinitely. The families of both Barney and Jessie desired that their awards be used to assist nursing students to attend/present at nursing/health conferences, an activity highly valued by both Barney and Jessie.
