Langara would like to recognize the following graduates for their outstanding academic achievements and commitment to community service.


Clive Fransen - Certificate in Arts and Science (Engineering) 

Langara College Graduate Excellence Award (Certificate)

Clive is graduating with a Certificate in Arts and Science (Engineering) and has a CGPA of 4.14 – the highest CPGA of any graduate from a certificate program. Clive enjoyed the camaraderie and the learning opportunities that small collaborative group settings offer. Clive is starting at UBC in the fall and will be focusing on electrical engineering. He hopes to one day work for Disney as an Imagineer, creating exciting rides and park attractions. 


Kieran McKenzie - Bachelor of Business Administration 

President’s Medal for Academic Excellence and Community Service

Kieran enjoyed discussing philosophy, politics, and current events with friends while at Langara. Kieran has already landed a “dream job” as an auditor at the largest accounting firm in Vancouver and looks forward to one day building a family, career, and community.


Dylan Myers - Bachelor of Recreation Management

President’s Medal for Academic Excellence and Community Service

Dylan was looking for a change in career path and was empowered by a mentor to take the Bachelors of Recreation Management. Dylan appreciated the online format as it allowed for completion of the degree while working full-time. Dylan loved how the faculty treats and supports its students and looks forward to being a mentor for current and prospective BRM students. Dylan has also recently started a non-profit that focuses on personal development in health and wellness and hope to empower the next generation of leaders.


Annie Qiu - Bachelor of Science in Nursing

Langara College Graduate Excellence Award (Bachelor’s Degree)

Annie chose to study Nursing at Langara thanks to its well-rounded, mixed-mode curriculum and high number of clinical placements. It was obviously a good choice, as Annie is graduating with a 4.08 CGPA – the highest in the program! Annie looks back fondly on engaging in thought-provoking case study discussions with fellow nursing students as part of the BC College of Nursing Professionals Student Group. Annie is currently working at the acute medicine unit at Vancouver General Hospital and hopes to one day complete a Master of Nursing.


Fleur Smit-Anseeuw - Bachelor of Science in Nursing

President’s Medal for Academic Excellence and Community Service

Fleur will remember nursing school as a time filled with immense support from instructors, faculty, and peers and says, “I am so grateful to have had several instructors who went above and beyond to provide mentorship and guidance, challenging me to push myself to develop as a student, a nurse, and a leader.” Fleur is currently working as nurse at St Paul’s Hospital and hopes to pursue a specialty in critical care eventually a master degree. 


Shubham Taneja - Associate of Science Degree in Computer Science

Governor General’s Collegiate Bronze Medal & Langara College Graduate Excellence Award (Arts and Science)

Shubham is graduating with an Associate of Science in Computer Science with the highest CPGA of any two-year program – an astonishing 4.23. Shubham was surprised to get this distinction and says, "I would like to dedicate this awards to my parents, my peers and of course, my instructors who supported me in every case.” Shubham felt overwhelmed by the supports received as an international student and is proud to have made so many friends and memories.


Jessica Terezakis - Diploma in Arts and Science (Women's Studies)

Lieutenant Governor's Medal for Inclusion, Democracy, and Reconciliation

A Diploma in Arts and Science (Women's Studies) has given Jessica the skills to critically engage with the world and has provided a solid base to continued education. Jessica is currently working as a support worker for women and children fleeing domestic violence. Jessica hopes to eventually complete a Master of Education and incorporate themes from Women's Studies developed into broader curriculums.


Weihao (Sunny) Xue - Post-Degree Diploma in Web and Mobile App, Developer Stream

Langara College Graduate Excellence Award (Career)

Sunny decided to study in Langara’s Web and Mobile App Design and Development program because of its focus on both design content and development knowledge and is graduating with the highest CPGA of any career program – an impressive 4.15. Sunny particularly enjoyed time spent with group project teams, not only working on semesterly assignments but getting lunch and drinking bubble tea. Eventually, Sunny hopes to become a mentor who can guide others to find their place in the technology industry.
