Overview
Through their unique experiences, Ian, Jenny, and Monika share insights into their body of work, personal projects, and career growth. From the perspective of a wildlife photographer to the impact of personal work and defining your identity as a photographer, these sessions are designed to educate and inspire.

Ian Harland
In this talk, Ian Harland delves into the significance of personal work in a photographer’s career. From passion projects to portfolio-building shoots, he explores how independent creative efforts have shaped his journey, helped him avoid burnout, and led to new opportunities. Through personal anecdotes and key takeaways, Ian highlights why investing in your own vision is essential for long-term success.

Jenny Wong
Jenny Wong’s career as an adventure photographer has been shaped by a deep understanding of personal and professional identity. Specializing in wildlife and remote landscapes, she shares how defining your audience, recognizing your strengths, and staying true to your creative vision can lead to breakthrough moments. With real-world examples, including a career-changing project, Jenny offers invaluable insights into turning ambition into reality.

Monika Deviat
Who you are shapes your journey in ways you can’t always predict. Monika’s life never followed a single, defined path, and she never fit neatly into one box. Discovering night photography was a turning point that sent her life in an entirely new direction. The drive to venture alone into darker and darker skies pushed her beyond her comfort zone, leading her to explore the Canadian Rockies and forge a deeper connection with nature. Through her work and experiences, Monika demonstrates how growth, creativity, and authenticity thrive beyond the familiar. The best images and the most meaningful experiences happen when you embrace your own path, trust your instincts, and lean into discomfort.
