Support and learn more about the Eugene Bell Foundation and North Korea at a screening of the documentary Out of Breath and subsequent panel discussion.
Out of Breath follows a small group of international volunteers fighting the spread of Multidrug-resistant tuberculosis in rural North Korea. Working with North Korean medics, the volunteers venture deep into the world's most secretive nation, overcoming cultural and political hurdles to save lives.
A discussion/Q&A panel with the participation of Eugene Bell Foundation chairman Dr. Stephen Linton, the film director Hein Seok and Dr. Avram Agov will follow the screening.
Hosted by Langara Asian Field Study alumni & UBC student Thorn Austin
Proceeds from ticket sales will go to support the Eugene Bell Foundation to help them treat MDR-tuberculosis patients in North Korea going forward. The event is organized with the generous support of Langara College Office of Vice-President, External Development, Dean's Office, Faculty of Social Sciences and Community Programs, and the Department of Asian Studies.
