Touch, Voice, and Gestures: How to Craft Your User Assistance to Accommodate a Variety of Interaction Types with Joe Welinske

New ways of interacting with software mean rethinking how we develop our
associated user assistance. This session is a guide for appropriate language
choices to use for emerging interaction types like touch, voice, and hand
gestures. Topics include device-specific instructions using conditional
text, micro-concise instructions for small screens, writing for first user
experience, flat navigation, and options for voice support. This session
applies to both mobile platforms and the emerging use with touch and
gestures for desktop systems.

Content as Conversation with Purposes and Personas with Ginny Redish

Everything we write is part of a conversation between author and reader. As
we move from paper to screen, from large screen to small, from static
writing to dynamic social-media exchanges, conversation has become even more
important as the way to think about writing.
Spend an interactive evening working through real examples to see the power
of the conversation model. You'll see how to make sure that your purposes
are measurable, specific, and focused on your site visitors / app users /
readers.
