Library & Information Technology Program Holds Homecoming 2010
On May 13th, 2010 the Library & Information Technology Program held their bi-annual Homecoming on campus in the Library building. The Homecoming is a chance for program alumni to reconnect with former classmates and instructors, as well as an opportunity for current students and new graduates to network with future colleagues. Of the approximately 70 people who attended, there were Advisory Committee members, Library Practicum Hosts, College personnel involved with the program, along with the alumni, current students and instructors.
A silent auction made up of items donated by alumni and current students, the College Bookstore, United Library Services and other local businesses, raised $1200 once funds were matched by the College for the Katherine McRae-Fuchihara Bursary. This bursary provides financial aid for Library & Information Technology students.
As the Library & Information Technology Program has as many students taking courses from a distance as they do on campus, they ran an Adobe Connect session so people could log into and participate remotely. When logged in they were able to see and hear what was happening at the event, and could use online chat to say hello. Students and graduates from the Lower Mainland, other parts of BC, Edmonton and Ottawa joined in for the fun.
The next Homecoming will be held in May 2012 ... watch for details!
