Course Description
Formerly JOUR 2420
In this course, students discover challenging new ways of thinking about storytelling. In solutions journalism, students do not just report on the problem; they provide leadership to their audience by proactively searching for ways to make things better. In data journalism, students do not just take their interview subjects at their word; they analyze patterns in data sources, producing interactive charts and maps to bolster their viewers' understanding of what is really going on. The innovative approaches learned in this course help students uncover the story behind the story – and make sure the journalism they create stands out.
Students will receive credit for only one of JOUR 2420 or 2450.
