The Capstone Project
The Capstone Project provides the opportunity for students to apply all of the business management and financialskills learned throughout the Bachelor of Business Administration, BBA program to a client organization. The project can range from the preparation of a detailed ‘consulting’ plan, a business plan, or the development of specific deliverables for the client organization. Students work in teams to research, analyze and provide recommendation for their clients. Students work closely with clients and faculty advisors over the course of a semester and present their final report to both client and faculty advisors.
Benefits of Participating
The Langara BBA Capstone projects allow an opportunity for students to demonstrate their learning and proficiency while providing recommendations and solutions to real business challenges of organizations in the community. Approximately 300-400 person-hours culminating in a written report and in-person presentation are provided free of charge to participating clients. Our students have worked with an array of clients including for profit, not-for-profit and volunteer organizations.
How Does It Work?
- Capstone projects run each semester, January to April, May to August, and September to December.
- Students will visit the client at their organization to introduce team members and set a meeting schedule with their client.
- Students will usually meet with their client every two weeks in person or by zoom. Client and students will outline the best method of communication between meetings and provide updates throughout the term.
- To meet project criteria, students will ideally have access to three to five years of the organizations financial statements.
- Students meet weekly with faculty advisors to present updates and progress milestones.
- At the end of the term, students present their final report and group presentation to the client and advisors in persona at Langara College.
