Alumni Story - Kavita Dhillon

Kavita's story is a true example of the kind of pathways that you can go down by starting at Langara School of Management. Kavita started with a Diploma in Marketing Management and during her time at Langara enrolled in the Disney International Program, while there she learned from Disney and her new colleagues there about sports management. After returning and completing her coop term and diploma, Kavita went on to complete a degree in sports management and has worked for fantastic organizations like the Toronto Raptors. And, it all started with enrolling in the Marketing Management program here at Langara School of Management.
After completing my Marketing Diploma, and finding out about Sports Management from students I met via the Disney International Program, by way of the Co-Op program at Langara, I continued my studies to achieve a Bachelor's degree in Sport Management. Since then, I have been able to fill a variety of roles in the Professional Sports Industry; most recently with the Toronto Raptors, as Manager of Game Presentation, which actually falls under the scope of Marketing.

Alumni Story - Shira Gordon

In College, you might start in one area, move through another, and end up in a different area from where you started. Careers are like that too. Once you start a career you will always need to be open to learning and trying new things. The education at Langara School of Management lays the foundation to help students navigate their new careers and always be open to new opportunities. Shira is a fantastic example of one of our alumni navigating as new technology emerges, trying different areas of work and finding something that really works for her. And it started with a diploma at Langara School of Management.
I applied a number of principles I learned when I was at Langara even though the marketing landscape has changed drastically since I took my diploma (hello digital marketing and social media!). I started off in the marketing and sales coordination side, then moved into event management and now I am in a position that is a combination of event management and administration and I love it!
