Emergency Management
We are committed to providing the best emergency management resources and procedures to protect our students, employees, and visitors. We follow the best practices in the industry and integrate the activities necessary to assess the risk and then build, sustain, and improve the capability to prepare for, respond to, and recover from, emergency events on campus.
We seek to promote a safe, well-prepared community that is able to manage risks related to major emergencies and disasters that may affect the College. Using an all-hazards approach to assess risk and establish emergency management priorities, the goal is to continuously examine actions that minimize the impact of emergencies on the College occupants, environment, and property.
These actions include:
- Understanding and assessing risks
- Taking all reasonable steps to reduce the risks
- Planning for both response and recovery
- Ensuring emergency response personnel are prepared to act
- Evaluating and improving the program continually

Langara Alert is the College’s critical notification system designed to keep you informed during time-sensitive situations on campus, via email and SMS messages.
Powered by Rave Alert, Langara Alert sends notifications about emergencies or disruptions such as:
- Weather-related campus closures
- Building evacuations
- Safety or security threats on campus.
All students and employees are automatically enrolled to receive alerts through their Langara email.
