Financial Aid

Langara College is committed to making students aware of the financial assistance available to them while they pursue their undergraduate studies. In addition to government financial aid, eligible students are also able to apply for bursaries, scholarships, and awards to supplement school and day-to-day expenses. If you’re worried about how to stretch your finances, let us help you relieve some stress!

StudentAid BC provides assistance in the form of Canada Student Loans or a combination of Canada Student Loans, BC Student Loans, and possibly grant funding. The amount and type of assistance awarded is based on need as assessed by the Provincial Authority. Students are reminded that this is an assistance program aimed at complementing, not replacing, their own financial resources. For information on how to apply, download this Full-Time/Part-Time Information Sheet and watch these Student Aid BC videos.

The Langara Bursary is non-repayable assistance available to students who demonstrate financial need and are in good academic standing. Bursary recipients must be Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or protected persons with proof of status who are registered in full-time studies (nine credits or six or more credits for students with a registered disability). Please submit a complete application for consideration, by the stated deadline. Bursaries are awarded in the third month of the term (March/July/November) and are meant to support student expenses near the end of the term. For questions or more information, email finaid@langara.ca.

  • Fall 2024 Bursary Application – Applications are now closed.

The Student Work Assistance Program (SWAP) is a way for Langara departments to hire students who demonstrate financial need to assist with a range of jobs on campus. To be eligible for SWAP students need to fill out a SWAP application, be enrolled in a minimum of nine credits, demonstrate financial need, and have a CGPA of 2.0. If a student is already approved for a government student loan and grant, financial need is already established.

Work on Campus (WOC) is a new initiative available to students who want to work as a peer tutor or to perform basic research at Langara but does not meet the financial need requirement nor full-time enrolment that applies to SWAP students. If you have a strong CGPA, are registered in at least one course (three credits) and are in good academic standing, please apply for consideration.

Provincial Tuition Waiver Program waives tuition and eligible fees for B.C students who are current or former youth in care. To be eligible for the waiver, students must be:

  • Studying full- or part-time at the undergraduate level at a B.C. public post-secondary institution; the Native Education College or an approved union-based trades training provider.
  • Adopted through the B.C. Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD) or Indigenous Child and Family Service Agency (ICFSA); or
