Message from the Planning Advisory Committee
We are honoured to be part of this working group and are committed to ongoing, frequent, and transparent communication. Our work will pursue collective decisions through conversation with our community and relationship building, responding to equity, diversity, and inclusion, and leveraging the strength of all our voices. We will keep you informed every step of the way.
We want to engage with student voices, faculty, administrative and Indigenous collaborators. Where representation is missing, we will seek input and offer collaborative opportunities using multiple channels for engagement with the broadest possible scope.
While acknowledging the impact of our roles and responsibilities on the planning process, we have also sought to assert the need for a clear, data-informed direction that focuses on our institutional purposes and community responsibilities.
Your voice matters; please share it. Your ideas are invaluable in shaping Langara's future. We look forward to hearing from you and implementing the opportunities.
Our Process
Our process centres the methodology of appreciative inquiry, making space for all to contribute positive affirmations and ask "and then what...?" We've committed to collaborative work within the strategic plan working group, with individuals bringing their interests and skills to spaces where there is a need.
In our early conversations, we've discussed ways to foreground the purpose of faculty and support services as they contribute to the experience of learning in the emerging strategic framework. We have also worked to define a working space that values truthfulness, transparency, and trust while working toward collective decisions through conversation and relationship building leveraging the strength of all our voices.
While acknowledging the impact of our roles and responsibilities on the planning process, we have also sought to assert the need for data-informed direction that is clear and focused on our institutional purposes and community responsibilities. At the same time, we are also working to do things differently – to challenge established ways of thinking not because they have no value or are stale, but because they are the bedrock beneath the still-emerging pathway forward.
