Professional housekeeping plays a vital role in maintaining service standards and guest comfort in hospitality settings. Students learn core practices including cleaning procedures, safety protocols, and inventory management. They explore effective communication with guests and team members and apply Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System and principles to maintain a safe work environment. Students also build the skills needed to meet cleanliness standards and contribute to positive guest experiences in hotels and resorts.

This micro-credential aims to prepare learners for immediate employment in the hospitality sector by equipping them with essential housekeeping skills, safety knowledge, and workplace communication practices. It supports Langara’s commitment to workforce development and inclusive access by offering training that is practical, industry-aligned, and accessible to learners with diverse educational backgrounds.

What You'll Learn

By the end of the program, you will be able to:  

  • Apply standard housekeeping procedures using appropriate tools and products to meet hotel cleanliness and guest service standards in a hospitality setting.
  • Communicate professionally and efficiently using housekeeping terminology, documentation, and interdepartmental protocols in a hotel environment.
  • Maintain a safe and hygienic working environment by following WHMIS guidelines, ergonomic practices, and sanitation protocols in daily housekeeping tasks.
  • Manage and replenish inventory of linens, amenities, and cleaning products to maintain guest service readiness and stock control in hospitality housekeeping operations.
