Langara College recently celebrated over 1,900 graduates during its 59th annual convocation ceremonies, featuring a traditional Musqueam welcome, heartfelt performances, and inspiring speeches. President and CEO Dr. Paula Burns emphasized the significance of this milestone, honouring the graduates' achievements and their potential to make a positive impact in the world.
Joy, pride, and excitement filled the Queen Elizabeth Theatre as Langara College celebrated over 1,900 graduates from more than 130 programs during its 59th annual convocation ceremonies, held June 17–19, 2025. Highlights included a traditional Musqueam welcome with drumming by Alec Dan, a heartfelt rendition of O Canada by Theatre Arts student Lucy Jeffery, remarks from President and CEO Dr. Paula Burns, a graduate address, and the presentation of Emeritus and Graduation Awards. Each ceremony concluded with the proud welcome of Langara’s newest alumni.
Langara College's convocation ceremonies serve as a pivotal milestone in the academic journey of graduates, recognizing their accomplishments and marking the beginning of their professional or future academic endeavours. The diverse range of programs offered at Langara College ensures that each graduate emerges with the knowledge and skills to excel in their chosen fields.
Eight graduates received awards for their outstanding academic achievements and commitment to community service.
Langara proudly announced the conferral of the 2025 Emeritus Awards celebrating distinguished service. Emeritus is an honourary title given to retiring or retired faculty or professional staff to recognize their outstanding contribution to teaching, research, service, or leadership in their professional field. This year’s recipients are Gerda Krause, Dean Emerita, Faculty of Science, and Stephen Phillips, Faculty Emeritus, Political Science.
At the close of each ceremony, Karina Reid, Development Officer, College Advancement welcomed graduates to the Langara alumni family that is now over 119,000 strong.
