Leon Li, Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting

President's Medal for Academic Excellence and Community Service

Leon is honoured to be recognized and chosen as the recipient of this award. It gives him a sense of acknowledgement of his efforts and encourages him to excel in his future career while continuing to give back to his community. Completing the BBA in Accounting enabled him to advance in the business field with greater confidence. It also provided valuable academic knowledge of the accounting field, equipping him with the skills to excel within the industry. Leon values his collaboration with teammates and sharing the accomplishment of strong results from their group projects. Celebrating those achievements together made the experiences meaningful and unforgettable, creating many true friendships along the way. While continuing his work as an accountant in public practice, Leon is pursuing his CPA designation to advance in the field. He is thankful to the many instructors for not only teaching him the academic material but also sharing their valuable insights.  

Ethan Haldeman, Bachelor of Recreation Management

President's Medal for Academic Excellence and Community Service

Ethan is excited and grateful for this recognition. Through the Recreation Management program, he developed confidence in leadership, writing, and community development while gaining valuable insight into collaboration and informed decision-making in the recreation field. One of Ethan's most meaningful experiences was the Outward Bound expedition in Strathcona Provincial Park, which strengthened his sense of self-leadership and remains a defining memory of his time at Langara. Ethan attributes his success in the program in part to his supervisor, Stefanie Myler who consistently empowered him, offered guidance, and acted as a strong source of encouragement throughout his development. Ethan plans to pursue graduate studies in Public Administration at the University of Victoria to further his career in community recreation.

Julie Kinmont, Certificate in Early Childhood Education 

Langara College Excellence Award (Certificate) 

Julie’s achievements are a reflection of her dedication, resilience, and lasting commitment to early childhood education. Although she is unable to attend the ceremony in person, she expresses deep pride in being recognized for her hard work and academic success.
Through her learning, Julie developed a strong understanding of child development and inclusive practice, gaining the skills to create supportive environments where every child feels valued and respected. Her program helped strengthen her ability to communicate effectively with families and colleagues and to apply positive guidance in the classroom. Julie enjoyed her connections with instructors and fellow students while completing her program online and appreciated the opportunity to  build relationships. Julie attributes her success to the patience and support of her family, and to the instructors for their teachings and knowledge. Julie is continuing her work as an Early Childhood Educator, committed to nurturing children with care, confidence, and compassion while encouraging others to pursue their educational goals at any stage of life.

Noor is deeply honoured to be acknowledged for her academic success, and grateful for the support she received which served as motivation throughout her studies.
Through her program, Noor gained valuable academic knowledge alongside practical skills that strengthened her confidence, discipline, and resilience. She learned to manage pressure, collaborate effectively, and adapt to challenges, building a strong foundation for her future in healthcare.
Inspired by her older brother's positive experience at Langara, Noor found a supportive community where she felt encouraged and included. She attributes here success to many people, but above all, her parents, who have always supported her from back home in Iran and her aunts, who supported her here in Canada. She looks forward to continuing her studies at the University of British Columbia, with the goal of contributing meaningfully to her community and pursuing a career in healthcare. 

Nkere Ezekiel, Associate of Science Degree in Mathematics

Lieutenant Governor's Medal for Inclusion, Democracy, and Reconciliation

Nkere’s accomplishments at Langara College reflect a deep commitment to inclusion, growth, and community impact. She is honoured to be recognized for her contributions creating supportive spaces for others. Nkere values the importance of community and belonging and has found this at Langara through student involvement, cultural engagement, and experiences that shaped her sense of purpose and leadership. She discovered new academic interests in statistics and data, while developing adaptability, discipline, and problem-solving skills. She also gained confidence by balancing academics with leadership and volunteer work, learning the importance of asking for support and embracing new challenges. Nkere reflects with a sense of pride being a part events such as Black History Month, where culture, conversation, and connection were genuinely centred. Inspired by meaningful connections with the friends made on campus, she plans to continue her education while advancing work in community development and inclusion, striving to create spaces where others feel seen, supported, and empowered.

Sarah Bowker, Bachelor of Science in Bioinformatics

Sarah's journey is a powerful example of resilience, perseverance, and community spirit. After almost four years as a refugee in Jordan, she relocated to Canada with gratitude for every opportunity to learn and grow. Sarah is deeply honoured and grateful to be selected as the recipient of this award and to be acknowledged for both her academic achievements and her commitment to community engagement. Throughout her studies, Sarah developed a strong foundation in biological sciences and data analysis, alongside essential skills in critical thinking, discipline, time management, and problem-solving. Originally planning to pursue pharmacy, Sarah discovered her passion for bioinformatics, where biology and data intersect. Her co-op placement was a defining experience, allowing her to apply classroom knowledge in a professional setting and strengthening her confidence in navigating complex challenges. Sarah is grateful for the support and kindness of her instructors but most importantly, Sarah would like to thank her husband and daughter for their support throughout this journey. 

Harkirat Kaur Sarai, Bachelor of Science in Nursing

Harkirat is deeply honoured and grateful to be recognized for her achievements and for the support she has received from faculty, peers, family, and the broader nursing community. She has gained strong clinical knowledge and skills, alongside a deep understanding of patient-centred care, evidence-based practice, and the importance of empathy in healthcare. She developed resilience and adaptability through diverse and challenging clinical placements. Those experiences taught her that success often comes through discomfort, and that is what makes it meaningful. Supported by her family, Harkirat balanced academic demands with personal responsibilities. She graduates prepared to continue learning, growing within the nursing profession, and contributing meaningfully to patient care.

Sherry’s journey reflects dedication, resilience, and a deep commitment to compassionate care. She is deeply honoured to be recognized for her hard work and perseverance and grateful for the support and encouragement received from faculty, peers, her family, and the nursing community. Through clinical placements, simulations, and collaborative learning, Sherry developed strong clinical judgment, evidence-based practice skills, and a profound sense of empathy for patients and families. She values the lasting friendships and shared experiences formed with classmates. Their shared moments of both stress and accomplishment, along with mutual support, made her time at Langara unforgettable. Sherry graduates prepared to contribute meaningfully to diverse healthcare settings.

Stacy Fedorovskaia, Associate of Science Degree in Computer Science

Stacy is proud to have her academic efforts and dedication recognized in this meaningful way. 
Through her studies she gained a broad foundation in mathematics, computer science, and communication, discovering unexpected value in writing and interpersonal skills that continue to support her daily life. She also developed a deep appreciation for mentorship, crediting supportive relationships with her instructors for shaping a positive and engaging learning experience. Being welcomed to visit with both her current and past instructors felt like home; they truly cared about how she was doing. Stacy grew into leadership roles as a Math Peer Tutor and Chess Club manager, learning to balance multiple responsibilities. She is now continuing her studies at Simon Fraser University, where she plans to pursue advanced studies in computing science and mathematics. Stacy's time at Langara College reflects curiosity, adaptability, and a strong commitment to growth and she attributes her success in part to her parents’ support and values their efforts to help keep her on track.
