UBC-Langara Indigenous Transfer Partnership
The UBC-Langara Indigenous Transfer Partnership (UBC-ITP) is a collaboration between the University of British Columbia (UBC) and Langara College that offers First Nations, Métis, and Inuit students a clear pathway to bachelor's degrees at UBC’s Vancouver Campus.
As a UBC-ITP student, you'll have access to financial advising, scholarships, bursaries, and other assistance programs. In addition to the support available to all students, there are specific awards, at UBC and Langara, available to those students enrolled in the transfer partnership. At Langara you’ll receive the support and academic preparation necessary to successfully transfer to one of a number of faculties at UBC. Here's how to apply:
Apply to Langara College
Before you can apply for the UBC-Langara ITP, you need to be a registered student at Langara College. Be sure to self-identify as Indigenous on your application.
To attend Langara College:
- You must have successfully completed a BC secondary program (Grade 12) or equivalent; or
- You must be at least 19 years of age on the first day of your first semester; or
- You must have successfully completed an Adult Basic Education (ABE) or General Educational Development (GED) program;

Step 2: Enrol in UBC-Langara ITP
Do this before you apply to UBC.
Complete the UBC-Langara Indigenous Transfer Partnership registration form and indicate your UBC faculty or faculties of interest:

UBC Sauder School of Business
Faculty of Applied Science (Engineering)
Faculty of Forestry
School of Kinesiology
Faculty of Land and Food Systems
Faculty of Science
You can enrol at any point during your time at Langara, so long as it’s before you apply to UBC. However, we do encourage you to enrol early to access all the awards awards and benefits we have to offer. Create an academic and transition plan
Upon admission to the ITP, a member of Langara's Indigenous Engagement and Initiatives team will reach out to you to discuss supports and resources to help you succeed at Langara College and later UBC. You should also connect with a UBC Community Liaison Manager to plan your courses and determine when to submit your application. Please note, some programs have required first- and second-year courses, and promotion requirements. Please connect with the indigenous.recruitment [at] ubc.ca (UBC Community Liaison Manager) for course selection prior to registering for courses at Langara College.
Meet UBC's admission requirements and apply to UBC
As a Langara transfer student, you must meet UBC’s general admission requirements for transfer students from a Canadian college and your chosen faculty’s specific requirements on the UBC Vancouver campus before applying to UBC. It takes two semesters of full-time study to earn 24 credits, so most students spend one or two years at Langara. When you are ready to complete this step, attend an application workshop to:
- watch a demonstration of UBC's online application process by an Indigenous advisor
- learn tips on applying for UBC’s Indigenous-specific Awards
- receive support filling out and completing your admissions application
