Career Pathways

Throughout the EDAS program, you can meet with school districts visiting Langara who will share information about their application processes. Individual school districts can interview and hire Education Assistants independently of any program.

As a typical entry-level role, graduates can apply for the position of Education Assistant (Special Education Assistant, Student Support Worker, Teacher Assistant) in a school system.

The salary is between $30 and $35 per hour (estimated salary, daily hours vary). Many positions include benefits. Please check with individual school districts for salary, hours, and benefits specific to each school district.

Transferability

The Education Assistant Program consists of courses that provide specific training. Some courses are transferable between participating colleges and universities.

The official and most up to date source of information on the transferability of courses is the BC Transfer Guide, which has an up-to-date and searchable online guide to course equivalencies.
