snəw̓eyəɬ leləm̓ Langara College stands in solidarity with Iranian students, faculty, and staff following the detention and death of Mahsa Amini. We support citizens’ right to peacefully protest and recognize the courage of those who stand up for justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion.
We are concerned for the well-being of our campus community and acknowledge the trauma many may be experiencing.
For those who may be struggling and would like support, the following resources and services available to students, faculty and staff.
- Iranian Student Support Group: This is a confidential group gathering space for Langara students facilitated by two Langara Counsellors. Our aim is to provide a safe forum for sharing how events are impacting you, for building community and drawing strength from one another, and for generating meaningful response to the human suffering being experienced.

If you would like to meet with a Counsellor, you may email counselling@langara.ca or call 604.323.5221.
- Mental Health Resources: The Mental Health and Well-being webpage has additional resources in our community. Many of these services are free and are not restricted to students.
- Langara Global: International students may also contact their International Student Coordinator for support.
- 24/7 Counselling Support:
- Empower Me – Students covered under Langara Students' Union Health and Dental plan have access to free 24/7 counselling services, 365 days per year. All students (including those not enrolled in the plan but experiencing a mental health crisis) can receive crisis counselling support by calling the 24-hour helpline from anywhere in North America. 1.844.741.6389 (toll-free).
- Here2Talk: A confidential, free single-session counselling service by app, phone, or online chat, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
- After Hours Resources and Community Resources: Some community contacts are available to assist you when Counselling Services is closed.
- Employee and Family Support: Langara employees can find support through our Employee and Family Assistance Program including advice, private counselling, information referral services. For more details, please access the People & Culture internal SharePoint site.
