Vancouver, BC - Langara College is pleased to announce the appointment of Jan Smith as Registrar. With over 18 years of extensive post-secondary experience, Smith will be responsible for leading a highly committed Registrar and Enrolment Services team.

Smith previously served as the College’s Associate Registrar and Director of Enrolment Services and since 2011 has overseen a wide range of Langara’s enrolment services including appeals, systems records, registration, scheduling, curriculum, financial assistance, graduation, and convocation.

Prior to Langara she was an Associate Registrar at Vancouver Community College, and was the Manager of Academic Resource Services at Simon Fraser University.

“Thanks to the valuable input from staff, the Registrar search committee was able to focus its attention on a very specific leadership profile that emphasized strong interpersonal skills and an impeccable track record for collaboration and teamwork,” said Clayton Munro, Dean of Student Services and former Registrar. “I am very pleased to report back that our search revealed Jan to be an exceptional leadership fit, not only for the department, but for the entire institution and we are thrilled to appoint someone of such quality.”

With her breadth of knowledge and experience, Smith has proven to be an essential member of the College community as demonstrated through her involvement in policy development, project management, and institutional governance over the years.

“Langara has been a great place to work, and I’m excited to continue in this new role with an amazing team,” said Smith. Smith holds a Master of Arts in Leadership and Training from Royal Roads University (2010), and a Bachelor of Arts and Social Sciences from Simon Fraser University (2005).
