Falcons' guard Gurjote Jhaj has been named to the CCAA All-Canadian team.

Vancouver, BC – Langara College is proud to announce the naming of Falcons’ Basketball star Gurjote Jhaj to the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association’s (CCAA) All-Canadian team.

The announcement came at the CCAA National Championships, held this week at Nova Scotia Agricultural College in Truro, NS. Gurjote, who finished as the second-ranked scorer in the entire Pacific Western Athletic Association (PACWEST), said he was “thrilled” with the result.

“I’m honoured and excited to win an All-Canadian Award this year,” he said. “I had a great season playing with my teammates and I think that really helped me excel on the court.”

Gurjote was a key player for the Falcons this season, leading the team in scoring with an average of 22.14 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 4 assists per game. His impressive stats sheet includes shooting 46.3% from the field, 34.6% from behind the three-point line, and 72% in free throws. Jhaj, who is in his second year of the Human Kinetics Program at Langara, also played an average of 34 minutes per game.

He was awarded “Player of the Week” by PACWEST after scoring a formidable 37 points in one game against the Quest Kermodes, and went on to be named as the league’s “Player of the Year” at the end of the season. He was also one of five players nominated as the overall CCAA “Player of the Year”.

The 6’4” guard, originally from Richmond, BC, attended the CCAA Championship Awards Banquet in Truro to receive his All-Canadian award, accompanied by Falcons’ Men’s Basketball Head Coach Jake McCallum.

“All-Canadians don’t come along very often, and it’s great to have Gurjote recognized as one this year,” said McCallum. “Gurj loves the game of basketball, and he puts in a lot of extra time working on becoming a better player. Obviously it’s paying off.”

The 10 players named to the CCAA All-Canadian team this year include representatives from across the country.
