Vancouver, B.C. – The snəw̓eyəɬ leləm̓ Langara College Board of Governors is pleased to announce that Scott Murray has been reappointed by the provincial government and re-elected as Chair by the Langara College Board to serve a second one-year term, ending July 31, 2027.
He joined the Langara College Board in 2020. He previously served as First Vice-Chair from August 2023 to July 2025 before being elected as Chair, effective August 1, 2025.
Mark Goldberg has also been reappointed for a three-year term ending July 31, 2029. He was first appointed on July 10, 2023 and was elected as the Board's Second Vice-Chair starting October 1, 2025 for a one-year term.
Langara thanks Scott and Mark for their steady leadership and ongoing commitment to the College and the future of post-secondary education in B.C.
New Board members
The provincial government also appointed two new members to the Langara College Board, each serving a one-year term until July 31, 2027:
Dr. Honieh Barzegari is principal of public affairs at Earnscliffe, where she advises public, private, and non-profit organizations on public affairs, public policy, stakeholder engagement, and governance. An Iranian-Canadian and long-time Vancouver resident, Honieh brings more than two decades of leadership experience across healthcare, government, and the life sciences. A physician by training, she has served in senior advisory roles with the Government of British Columbia and held leadership positions in the biopharmaceutical and health technology sectors. Having taught at both university and college levels, Honieh is a strong advocate for post-secondary education as a catalyst for opportunity, workforce development, and community well-being. She holds a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree and an executive management certificate.
Laurie Dawkins, MC, ABC, SCMP, Fellow, is vice-president of communications and engagement at the Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA). With more than 30 years of experience in communications, public affairs, engagement and organizational change, Laurie provides strategic leadership for communications across B.C.’s provincial health system. She has led communications for major health-sector transformations and has built a reputation for helping leaders navigate complex change in a compassionate, person-centred way. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Simon Fraser University, as well as certificates in executive coaching, leadership, and Indigenous cultural safety and humility. Laurie is an active volunteer both locally and nationally; and has a passion for supporting youth performing arts.
Langara welcomes Honieh and Laurie, and looks forward to continuing working with the Board to shape the College’s future.
