Extension of Province-wide Restrictions

Today the Provincial Health Officer of BC (PHO) announced an extension to existing province-wide restrictions to reduce the transmission of COVID-19.

  • By order of the PHO, all gatherings and events are suspended to significantly reduce COVID-19 transmission related to social interactions. The order came into effect November 19, 2020 at midnight and will be kept in place until further notice based on direction from the PHO. Today, the PHO has specifically asked for residents to respect these orders when celebrating upcoming events and holidays such as Super Bowl Sunday, Lunar New Year, Family Day, and Valentine’s Day.
  • All non-essential travel should be avoided. This includes travel into and out of BC and between regions of the province.

Some important reminders:

  • If you have any cold or flu symptoms, do not come to campus. Individuals with symptoms are encouraged to get tested for COVID-19.
  • Limit non-essential visits to campus during this time. If you must come to campus, continue to complete the BC Thrive self-assessment every day without exception.
  • Before you come to campus, complete the COVID-19 Safety Awareness Course on Brightspace. If you successfully completed this course in fall 2020, you do not need to retake this course for the 2021 Spring Semester, but please note that mask requirements have since changed.
  • When on campus, continue to maintain physical distance as per our health and safety plans and wear a mask (including in classrooms). Please follow the cleaning protocols that have been customized for labs, classrooms, and shared spaces.

Laptop Lending Library

As of the spring 2021 term, IT and the Bookstore teamed up to create the Student Laptop Borrowing Program. 30 laptops are available to be borrowed for the duration of one week or an entire semester. There is no charge to borrow a laptop, but photo ID (Student ID or government ID) and a student number must be provided when picking up the computer.

Please note you must contact the bookstore in advance to confirm a laptop is available for loan before you come to campus. The Bookstore is open from 10 am to 3 pm, Monday to Friday.
