Emergency Funding for Students

Today the Ministry of Advanced Education, Skills and Training announced new financial supports for domestic students. As part of that funding, Langara has received $140,000, allowing us to provide more emergency financial assistance to students. The Langara College Foundation has also provided new funding support to our international students from our International Education Fund in the amount of $140,000. The Foundation previously allocated $100,000 two weeks ago to address the emergent needs of both domestic and international students.

Regular or Continuing Studies students (full time and part time) who require emergency aid, and who have not already received emergency bursary funding this term, should email us at finaid@langara.ca from the email that is listed in your Langara account (@mylangara.ca).

Update for international students (April 9): Due to the overwhelming response and need by students for Emergency Funding, we have had to put a pause on accepting applications from International Students at this time. Funding, as previously reported, was limited and has been exhausted. To date over $190,000 has been allocated to distribute to International Students through this fund.

Community Cupboard

The Langara College Foundation is also pleased to continue support to our on-campus food bank, the Community Cupboard, through the generosity of many donors and in particular the Langara Student’s Union (LSU), who provided an additional $20K in support last week to keep the cupboard stocked. The (LSU) is a sustaining partner to the Community Cupboard, who contributes $36,000 annually to support the program.
