We provide a comfortable, welcoming environment while maintaining rigorous academic standards to ensure our students succeed in their goals whether they involve university transfer, a Langara diploma, or simply increased knowledge in our field.

Eligible students can apply for bursaries, scholarships, and awards to supplement school and day-to-day expenses.

KICES Poster Fall 2026

Awarded annually to an Indigenous student who demonstrates current and/or future involvement in advancing Indigenous health and wellness. Priority will be given to students enrolled in the Kinesiology Program, followed by students enrolled in another health-related field. If multiple students meet the criteria, cumulative GPA may be considered. Students must be enrolled in a minimum of nine credits in to be eligible.

Contemporary Health Issues

Kinesiologists often serve the public by providing knowledgeable advice regarding healthy lifestyle choices. In this course, students identify and describe contemporary lifestyles, associated behaviours, and major health concerns. They explore and discuss the responsibility of individuals to make informed decisions regarding their health and strategies for making positive lifestyle changes.

Volunteer Opportunities

SAF Vancouver Fitness Ltd. is a Vancouver-based mobile personal training and wellness company that provides in-home fitness coaching throughout Metro Vancouver. SAF Fitness Ltd. is currently expanding their team and are particularly interested in connecting with students and graduates from Kinesiology who are looking to gain practical coaching experience, develop client communication skills, and build a career in the health and fitness industry.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Current student or graduate in Kinesiology, Human Kinetics, Exercise Science, Health Sciences, or a related field
  • Strong interest in fitness, mobility training, health promotion, and helping others improve their quality of life
  • Professional, reliable, and self-motivated
  • Comfortable traveling to clients' homes within Metro Vancouver
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Previous coaching, fitness instruction, personal training, or sports leadership experience is an asset, but not required
Additional Assets:
  • Personal training certifications such as ACE, NASM, CanFitPro, ISSA, NSCA, or equivalent
  • Experience or interest in mobility training, corrective exercise, stretching, posture improvement, or functional movement
  • Experience working with seniors, children, or special populations
  • Knowledge of Pilates, Yoga, rehabilitation-based exercise, or women's wellness
  • Ability to communicate in Mandarin and English
  • Experience creating fitness or health-related content on social media

Cognitive Mobility Lab Volunteer Opportunity Summer 2026

The Aging, Mobility and Cognitive Health Lab is looking for student volunteers. The team operates within VGH, working closely with the Falls Prevention Clinic, to help build and run exercise-based research interventions for individuals experiencing cognitive and physical limitations. We are a team of researchers, kinesiologists, physiotherapists, students and volunteers. Current ongoing projects are: EPIC Health: Exercise in Perimenopause to Improve Cognitive Health (Funding provided by Canadian Institute of Health Research); Rise and Shine: Promoting Sleep Quality in Chronic Stroke with Exercise; and Supporting Physical Activity for Mobility in Mobility-Limited Older Adults. Looking to get a head start in your studies? Join our weekly in-person student space. The Kinesiology Department will be hosting an open space to work together, independently, or simply hang out with fellow students. Bring your snacks and a study buddy- tea and coffee will be offered!

Cierrah, our Instructional Assistant is hosting and is happy to answer any course-relates questions you may have. 

Starts January 22nd and runs every Thursday 1:00–2:30 pm in Room T515
