The international student deposit is non-refundable and non-transferrable. However, you may be eligible for a refund of your deposit if your study permit was refused by IRCC.

Eligibility 

To be eligible for a refund due to a study permit refusal:

  • Your study permit or visa was refused by IRCC.
  • You must upload a pdf copy of the IRCC refusal letter.
  • The refusal letter must be submitted by the seventh day of classes of your admission term.
  • If you deferred your start date, the refusal letter must be dated after the you requested the deferral (if applicable).

It is your responsibility to be aware of all rules, regulations and deadlines to complete course withdrawal and appeal procedures.

When you notification, you may be required to provide additional information for the refund to be processed.

If you would like to submit an appeal for the returning student commitment fee refund based on graduation, suspension, or extenuating circumstances, please complete a student appeal request form and submit the form to appeals@langara.ca along with a letter of explanation and supporting documentation.

Are you requesting a refund of the international student deposit due to a study permit refusal?

This form is for requesting a refund of the international student deposit due to study permit refusal for start terms after Spring (January) 2025. The study permit refusal letter date must be for the term you intended to begin. If you previously deferred your start date, the study permit letter date must be on or after your deferral request was submitted.
