Celebrate Tanabata!
Tanabata, or the Star Festival (Hoshimatsuri), has its roots in a Chinese legend that celebrates the meeting of Orihime, the Weaving Princess, and her beloved Hikoboshi, the Cow Herder who have been separated by the Heavenly River. Represented by the stars Altair (Hikoboshi) and Vega (Orihime) they are allowed to meet on the seventh day of the seventh month when a bridge forms over the Heavenly River (the Milky Way). On this day, people leave their own wishes on bamboo branches.
Join Langara Global in celebrating Tanabata! We will also be incorporating elements of Natsu Matsuri (summer festival) to add to the festivities. We invite you to join us in celebrating the diversity of the Langara community. Come learn more about Japanese culture, leave a wish, play some games, and enjoy some delicious Japanese treats!
