Our Nutrition and Food Service Management diploma prepares you to lead food operations with confidence—from menu planning and nutrition care to budgeting, staffing, and safety. You’ll gain practical, job-ready skills through real-world placements. Graduate ready to step into supervisory and management roles in hospitals, long-term care facilities, corporate food services, and more, with the required membership in the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management.

Our Associate of Science in Food and Nutrition & our Diploma in Food Nutrition and Health Transfer builds your knowledge in biology, chemistry, food and nutrition. You’ll learn in small classes, get personalized support, and develop essential academic skills that set you up for success. After graduation, move seamlessly into a university degree in food nutrition and health and be ready to apply to specialized fields such as dietetics, food sciences and nutritional sciences. Many of our students transfer directly into UBC for a degree in Bachelor of Science in Food, Nutrition, and Health, under the Faculty of Land and Food Systems.

The majority of our courses are university transferable. We recommend students contact the institute that you are transferring to well in advance to confirm transferability and consult the BC Transfer Guide. 

All programs accepts students for every term; however, prospective students must apply three months prior to the term they intend to start. Late applications are welcome, but space may be limited.

Our Programs

The Nutrition and Food Service Management Diploma Program provides students with the education and training needed for careers in food service management, with a strong focus on nutrition in the healthcare sector. The courses in the program focus on the administration of food and support services for healthcare facilities, as well as nutrition.  Courses offered by the department are all 100% online. Graduates work in management and supervisory roles, such as Support Services manager, Food Service manager, Food Service Supervisor, and Diet Technician, primarily in health care food service operations. There are four different streams that the student can select from to complete this path to their career.

Financially Accessible Education - We do that.

Langara believes in accessible education. We understand that money is hard to come by, but there are options for students. 

Most of our students work full-time and take courses part-time. We understand that you might have a family you're supporting while trying to achieve your next level education with us. Domestic students can complete the entire program online. 

Student Loans for Part-Time AND Full-Time Students

Working full-time, you need a diploma to advance, but don't make enough to save for the courses?  (Part time enrollment)

This is a reality that many people share today in BC. Eligible students may be able to apply for funding using loans and grants that are available to BC Residents studying in a 20%-40% course load (3-8 credits).

Nutrition and Food Service Management Department Scholarships

Complete Purchasing Services Nutrition and Food Services Management Scholarship recognizes outstanding achievement by a student enrolled in the Nutrition and Food Services Management program at Langara College. It is awarded to a student enrolled in a minimum of three (3) courses with the best combined marks in courses with a purchasing focus (FRSV 1213 and 4324). (Spring)
