Criminal Record Check Process

Criminal Record Check Process

A Criminal Record Check is required for all students in Levels 2 & 3 of the Langara Aromatherapy program.

These Criminal Record Checks must be performed through the Ministry of Justice in Victoria, BC. Criminal record checks from local police departments or RCMP offices are not accepted. Your Criminal Record Check must be valid for at least three years from the date of your acceptance letter.

Recommended and Preferred Process:

Complete the criminal record check online via the BC Government website (https://justice.gov.bc.ca/eCRC/home.htm). You will require the Langara Aromatherapy program code: MPQABJF6AZ which is requested at the bottom of this page on this link. The approval process typically takes 2-3 days. Please see the government's website for details on why an online application may not be accepted.

If online criminal record check not accepted:

Download the paper copy of the BC Criminal Record Check Form. The relevant Langara ID number for Aromatherapy Program is included on this form (note this is a different code then mentioned above). Payment is accepted by credit card. Students must arrange to meet with the Langara Aromatherapy Instructor or the Program Coordinator with your ID, so that your identity can be confirmed. Langara will then send in the form to the Ministry of Justice in Victoria who will contact you for payment. The approval process once payment is received is typically 2-3 weeks.

Share Option:

If you have previously received an approved Consent to a 'Vulnerable Adult' Criminal Record Check as an employee, and wish to have this forwarded to Langara for the Aromatherapy Program, the easiest and most straightforward process is to apply online on BC Government website and enter the program code: MPQABJF6AZ. At the bottom of the page select "Share the results ..". The same restrictions apply to this application as noted in the applying for a criminal record check. Your previous Criminal Record Check must be valid for at least three years from the date of the start of Module 2 of the Aromatherapy program. Please see the government's website for details on why an online application may not be accepted. If you are unable to complete this process, please contact kramsden@langara.ca to request a hard copy of the document and the manual process.  NOTE: This process is outlined on the Ministry of Justice website.
