A caring home and a dedicated team—You're never alone

You arrive knowing your room is ready, your host family is expecting you, and support is available from day one.

Langara Homestay helps make your transition to a new home feel comfortable, welcoming, and manageable. You have two sources of support throughout your journey: your host family and your Homestay team. Together, they create a support network that helps you feel confident, connected, and ready to succeed.

Your host family

Our host families welcome you into their homes, help you adjust to life in Vancouver, and show you around your new community. Whether you have questions about daily routines, need help navigating local transportation, or simply want someone to talk to, your host family is there to support you. For many students, their host family becomes one of the most meaningful parts of their experience.

Your homestay team

Your Homestay Coordinator is your dedicated point of contact throughout your stay. They’ll help you prepare before you arrive, guide you through orientation, and support you throughout your homestay. After-hours emergency support is also available for urgent assistance.

Who can apply for the Langara Homestay Program?

The Langara Homestay Program is currently available to students enrolled in Regular or Continuing Studies programs. If you are enrolling in a short-term program, homestay [at] langara.ca (please email us) for information about homestay options and fees specific to your program.

  • Opportunities to participate in family activities and practice English naturally
  • Access to household amenities such as laundry and Wi-Fi

Support throughout your stay

Behind every successful homestay is a team committed to your experience.

Our Homestay team provides:

  • Carefully screened host family placements
  • Ongoing student support and guidance
  • Regular communication with students and host families
  • After-hours emergency assistance

Regular check-ins: That put your well-being first

Support is not only there when something goes wrong. Our team regularly checks in with students and host families to help ensure a positive experience. If challenges arise, we work together to find solutions—including arranging alternative accommodation when needed. Because every student deserves a place where they feel at home.

For parents: Peace of mind while your child studies away from home

Sending your child to study away from home is a big decision. Knowing they have both a caring host family and a dedicated Langara Homestay team provides reassurance that they are supported every step of the way. Even from far away, you can feel confident knowing your child has people nearby who care about their safety, well-being, and success.
