50+ Years of Helping Students Feel at Home in Vancouver

A positive homestay experience can shape a student's confidence, academic journey, and overall experience in a new country. For more than five decades, Langara Homestay has connected students with caring host families who provide a welcoming home and a supportive environment. With more than 50,000 student placements and an experienced Homestay team supporting students throughout their stay, families can feel confident knowing their child has support both at home and throughout their studies.

We help you feel at home

We're here for your  journey

Behind every successful homestay experience is a team dedicated to helping students feel safe, supported, and at home. Our Homestay team understands that moving to a new country is more than a change of location—it is a major life transition. What motivates our team is seeing students grow: becoming more independent, forming meaningful connections, and creating memories that last beyond their time in Canada.

Experience you can trust

Our strength is not only measured by more than 50 years of experience or thousands of successful placements. It is also reflected in the people who make the program possible. Many of our team members, host families, and community partners have been part of Langara Homestay for years—and in some cases, decades. This continuity creates a deeper understanding of our students, stronger relationships with our host community, and a consistent level of care throughout every homestay experience.

A global perspective, close to home

Supporting students from around the world requires more than administrative experience. It requires empathy, cultural understanding, and the ability to see situations from different perspectives.

Our team brings expertise in:

  • International education at both secondary and post-secondary levels
  • Student support and advising
  • Intercultural communication
  • Cross-cultural adjustment
  • Conflict resolution
  • Counselling and student wellbeing
  • Adolescent development
  • Equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging
  • Mental health first aid

Many team members have also lived, studied, or worked internationally themselves, giving them firsthand understanding of the challenges and opportunities of adapting to a new country.

Our multilingual team can provide support in languages including:

  • French
  • Mandarin
  • Korean
  • Japanese
  • Spanish

Why experience matters

A Proven Track Record

Decades of experience mean we understand what students, families, and host families need to create successful homestay experiences.

Trusted Relationships

Over the years, we have built strong relationships with local host families, schools, and educational partners. These connections help us create thoughtful placements and provide consistent support.

Refined Processes and Continuous Improvement

We believe there is always room to learn and improve. We listen to feedback from students and host families and continually refine our processes to provide a safer, more responsive, and positive homestay experience for everyone.
