Orientation Events and Activities

Orientation events connect new students with the people, tools, services and resources they need to support a successful transition into their first semester at Langara. Whether you're a domestic student or new to Canada, coming straight from high school or returning to school after some time off, we encourage you to attend Orientation sessions so that you can great start on your Langara journey.

Fall 2024 Orientation Session Descriptions

 

New Student Orientation

All new students coming to Langara to study in the fall 2024 are encouraged to sign up to attend one session of New Student Orientation (A or B).  


NSO connects all new students with the people, tools, resources, and services needed to support a successful transition into your first term at Langara. Come to NSO to meet other students, get familiar with the campus, participate in fun games and activities and find out how you can get involved inside and outside of the classroom. 


Session A: Monday, August 26, 2024, Time: 8:30am - 4:30pm* (PST) 
Session B: Tuesday, August 27, 2024, Time: 8:30am - 4:30pm* (PST) 
Location: On Campus. Check in on Front Lawn

 
Note (*): If you are an international student, you will be attending an afternoon session to learn more about the services and supports available for international students. This session will end at approximately 4:30 pm.

 

International Student Orientation

International Student Orientation (ISO) is essential for new international students starting their studies at Langara College. ISO help you understand some of the cultural and academic differences you may encounter in your classes, navigate your immigration and health responsibilities, and introduce you to what services and support Langara Global can provide for you.

New Indigenous Student Orientation

Monday, August 26 or Tuesday, August 27, 2:30 pm - 3:30 pm

Location: The Indigenous Gathering Space, C140 

Indigenous Education and Services would like to invite new Indigenous students to join the Gathering Space Team for a New Indigenous Student Orientation (NISO). The NISO will be a breakaway session after the General Orientation and Campus Tour. The orientation will provide Indigenous students with an opportunity to meet the Indigenous Education and Services team and learn about the Indigenous Gathering Space and services. Refreshments and door prizes are included.

Langara School of Management - Diploma/Bachelor of Business Orientation

Registration required. 
Friday, August 30, 10:00am - 12:00pm 
Location: T Gallery (2nd Floor, T Building) 
Check-in for BBA Orientation will take place in the T Building at 9:45 am on Thursday, May 2nd


Diploma/BBA Orientation is designed to help you successfully embark on your studies in the Business Management, Marketing Management, Financial Management, & Accounting Programs offered through the Langara School of Management. The orientation will help you with understanding program requirements, tips for success, and there will be an opportunity to get to know your classmates before the semester begins.

 


Langara School of Management - LSM Post Degree Diploma Orientation 

Registration required. 
Friday, August 30, 1:00pm - 3:00pm 
Location: T Gallery (2nd Floor, T Building) 

Check-in for PDD Orientation will take place in the T Building at 12:45 pm on Thursday, May 2nd.  


PDD Orientation is designed to help you successfully embark on your studies in the PDD Program. The orientation will help you with understanding program requirements, tips for success, and there will be an opportunity to get to know your classmates and meet current PDD students to hear about their experiences.  
 
Please Note: PDD Orientation is designed specifically for students in the following PDD Programs: 
 
- PDD Accounting 
- PDD Business Administration 
- PDD Marketing Management 
 
If you are not in one of these PDD programs, please do not register for this orientation. 

 


Summer Student Social

Join Langara Global and the Office for Student Engagement team in the LSU Upper Lounge to meet other students, faculty, and staff from snəw̓eyəɬ leləm̓ Langara College. Open to all new Langara students–international, Indigenous, and domestic, Regular Studies and Continuing Studies! Play some games, enter to win prizes, and get to know your Langara community. Light refreshments will be served. 


Wayfinding

Feeling a bit lost on your first few days at Langara? Come to the A Building Main Foyer and look out for our GO Team student volunteers wearing orange VOLT t-shirts. GO team volunteers will be available to answer your questions, identify relevant services, help you find your classes or give you tips on where the best places are on campus to find coffee/tea, food or even where to relax in-between classes.
