Optician Bridging Program

Tailored for graduates and practitioners, this micro-credential is specifically crafted for those who have already completed an opticianry program or need to update and practice their practical skills. It is a refresher course, reinforcing critical competencies necessary for professional practice.  

Minimum Requirements to enrol in this program are as follows:

• Minimum age requirement of 19+
• Applicants should have a good command of spoken and written English Skills. Below are some recommendations on English Proficiency Language level:
  • IELTS (Academic) 6.0 overall with no band less than 6.0
  • TOEFL (internet-based) with a total score of 80 or higher, and a minimum of 22 in Listening, 22 in Reading, 21 in Speaking, and 21 in Writing
  • Successful completion of LEAP Level 8
  • Successful completion of B.C. Grade 12 English or Communications 12 or equivalent
  • Successful completion of a post-secondary level English or Communications course for which Langara College awards transfer credit.
  • LET (Langara English Test) Level 2
• Proof of previous courses/degree in an accredited Optician training program OR
• Sufficient professional experience in the field if previous studies' requirement is not met.
