Occupational Health & Safety
About
Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) programs are essential across all industries to protect worker well-being and maintain safe, healthy workplaces. Effective OHS programs reduce workplace injuries, illnesses, and incidents while supporting compliance with regulatory requirements and standards. By prioritizing occupational health and safety, organizations not only mitigate legal and financial risks but also foster a culture of prevention, accountability, and employee well-being.
The Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety provides the foundational knowledge and skills required of today’s safety professionals. The curriculum covers key areas of occupational health and safety practice, and instruction is delivered by experienced practitioners who bring real-world examples and applied insights into the classroom.
The program is recognized by the Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals (BCRSP), a nationally respected professional body. Completion of the Certificate program will support graduates in meeting the educational requirements toward the CANADIAN REGISTERED SAFETY TECHNICIAN (CRST) designation, enhancing their employability and career progression in the occupational health and safety field.
Designed to be accessible and part-time, the program supports working professionals, newcomers, and career changers. Graduates from the Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety will be able to ladder into the full Diploma as well as continue with the Health & Safety Professional designation pathway with BCRSP.
