Description
Gain knowledge in general aspects of bylaws, codes, and standards as well as technical guidelines for promoting safety, reliability, productivity and efficiency across engineering field. This course will cover;levels of codes (hierarchy)/specialized codes; research and interpretation of codes as a base standard for
design and safety; development of standards in the office process for efficiency and clarity; research on new developments e.g. lead technology and cloud technology; and building information models.
No textbooks required.
Learning Outcomes: Ability to conduct investigations, search relevant codes and standards, and conduct tests and measurements/ Understand the fundamentals of ethics, codes and standards/ Apply knowledge of health and safety practices to minimize exposure to unsafe conditions and ensure a safe working environment for oneself and co-workers/ Demonstrate knowledge of codes and standards
applicable to the discipline/Understand the professional Code of Ethics of the Provincial Association/Demonstrate an awareness of the basic fundamentals of management and business principles
