Description
Preparation for higher level academic writing requires foundational college-level writing skills. Through the analysis of a variety of short prose works, students develop critical reading skills and learn to craft clear, organized essays in both expository and argumentative styles. The course emphasizes proper use of primary and secondary sources, with instruction in citation practices that support academic integrity.

Students will receive credit for only one of ENGL 1123, 1126, 1127, or 1128.
