Description
This course is designed to ensure that students understand the structure behind musical composition. Understand scales and complex chord structure is the primary purpose of this course. Other aspects of music theory such as time signatures and tempo are taught from the perspective of working on a software music sequencer. Musical notation and reading music is certainly covered in this course, but is not the primary emphasis, instead topics such as chord structure and common chord progressions are dealt with in a more visual fashion primarily in relation to the keyboard.Learning Outcomes:- Demonstrate an understanding of western scales- Understand chord structures and how they relate to scales- Analyze the tempo and time signatures to compositions- Read & write musical notation- Demonstrate an understanding of pitch, rhythm, intervals and harmonyRegistration in this course is restricted to students admitted to Certificate in Digital Music Production.
