Description
Advancements in mass spectrometry and high-resolution analytical technologies have transformed our ability to study proteins and metabolites at scale, driving demand for professionals skilled in proteomics and metabolomics data analysis. Students explore the core principles of protein and metabolite profiling and apply experimental and computational approaches to real-world omics datasets. They gain experience interpreting mass spectrometry–based proteomics and metabolomics data, understanding experimental workflows, and evaluating data quality and biological relevance. Through the critical reading of introductory omics research articles, students develop foundational knowledge and skills for data-driven discovery and systems-level insight into biological processes.
Registration in this course is restricted to students admitted to the Proteomics and Metabolomics Applications program.
Corequisite(s): BINF 4030, 4035, and 4040.
