A new $80,000 gift from the Walker Wood Foundation will help Langara students overcome financial barriers through two new bursaries. The gift will support nursing students and students across the College as they build toward their futures.
For many students, pursuing post-secondary education in Vancouver means balancing classes, work, family responsibilities, and the rising cost of living. Financial pressures can make it harder to stay focused on learning and fully participating in college life.
The Walker Wood Foundation’s $80,000 contribution to Langara College will help change that, establishing two new bursaries:

The Walker Wood Foundation's new bursaries will support students who have the talent and determination to succeed but need financial assistance to continue their studies. By easing financial stress, the bursaries help students stay focused on their studies, participate more fully in college life, and continue working toward their goals.

While both bursaries will help students overcome financial barriers, the Walker Wood Nursing Bursary is especially timely as demand for healthcare professionals continues to grow across British Columbia. The bursary will help nursing students gain the education and practical experience needed to care for communities across the province.

The Foundation achieves this by working directly with educational institutions to provide scholarships and bursaries. It also allocates discretionary funding to community-based organizations, especially to those that align with its areas of focus.
